The core structure of stage lift platform is scissor mechanism. It consists of multiple groups of cross-connected rods, like a huge scissors structure. This unique structure gives the platform stability and adjustability, which is crucial in stage use scenarios. Whether it is carrying actors, large props or complex stage equipment, it can ensure that it remains stable during the lifting process without shaking or tilting, thus ensuring the safety of stage performances.

The stage lift platform plays an irreplaceable role in the field of stage performances with its unique structure, functions and wide range of application scenarios. Widely used in actors’ appearance and performance, props and scene layout, lighting and sound equipment placement.

Working principle

When the power system (usually hydraulic system) is started, hydraulic oil is pressed into the hydraulic cylinder to push the piston to move. The movement of the piston drives the rods of the scissor mechanism to extend or contract, thereby realizing the lifting and lowering of the platform. This lifting method has the characteristics of high precision and can be accurately adjusted to a specific height according to the needs of stage performances.

In some large-scale musicals or opera performances, it may be necessary to build multi-layer stage scenes. It can accurately lift the required scene elements to the specified height to create a three-dimensional stage effect. Moreover, its operation is relatively simple and can be controlled by an electric or hydraulic system. Operators can master it after a certain amount of training and quickly and accurately adjust the height of the platform.

Basic feature and advantage

High flexibility

In stage performances, different scenes require different height settings. For example, in an opera performance, when the protagonist stands high and sings solo, the scissor lift platform can smoothly lift the actor to the right height, creating a shocking visual effect. It can be adjusted in a wide range of heights, from a low height close to the stage ground to several meters in the air, to meet the needs of various stage creativity.

Strong carrying capacity

Various props, musical instruments, and even multiple actors standing on the lifting platform at the same time may be placed on the stage. The scissor lift platform has a strong load-bearing capacity, which can ensure safety and stability when carrying heavy loads. This allows stage designers and directors to arrange performance elements without worrying too much about the load-bearing problem of the platform.

High stability

Due to the unique design of the scissor structure, the platform has extremely high stability during the lifting process and at a fixed height. This is crucial for stage performances, because the actors need to perform various actions on the platform, such as dancing, fighting, etc. If the platform is unstable, it will not only affect the performance effect, but also may pose a safety threat to the actors.

Lift structure

Main structure‌:

High-strength steel is used, with a scissor-type cross arm (X-shaped hinge structure) as the core, and the vertical lifting function is achieved through a multi-layer folding arm to ensure the stability and load-bearing capacity of the platform‌.

The base is a welded steel structure, which can be adapted to a single-sided load-bearing wall or a shaft-free installation, reducing civil engineering requirements‌.

‌Material and protection‌:

The arm is made of seamless rectangular tubes or channel steel, with a galvanized or sprayed anti-corrosion layer on the surface to improve weather resistance‌;

Some models are equipped with anti-collision guards or buffer devices to reduce mechanical collision damage‌.

Hydraulic system

Power unit‌:

It consists of a hydraulic pump station (including motor, oil tank, oil pump), oil cylinder, and oil pipe. The hydraulic pump drives the oil cylinder piston to extend and retract through pressure oil to push the scissor arm up and down.‌

Adopting a one-way oil cylinder design, the oil pump pressurizes and supplies oil when rising, and relies on deadweight to release pressure when descending, with low energy consumption.‌

‌Control and safety protection‌:

The flow direction and flow rate of the oil are precisely controlled through electromagnetic reversing valves, balance valves, and hydraulically controlled one-way valves.‌

Integrated speed limit cut-off valves, overflow valves, and oil temperature protection devices to prevent loss of control due to overload, oil pipe rupture, or abnormal temperature.‌

Electric system

Control Center‌:

The main controller integrates PLC or microprocessor to achieve lifting speed adjustment, leveling positioning and fault diagnosis‌;

Supports multi-point operation (such as in the car, between floors, remote control), improving flexibility‌.

‌Safety Monitoring‌:

Equipped with overload alarm switch, limit switch and emergency stop button, real-time monitoring of operating status‌;

When power is off, the backup battery is automatically activated, and the manual pressure relief valve is used to achieve slow descent and self-rescue‌.

Finishes parts

Our hydraulic lift cabins offer a range of manual options and finishes tailored to meet specific requirements. We provide three models: Model A is only a platform without any guardrails, when lift down to the ground floor, it's completely in same level with ground floor wihout any blocks. Model B is a platform with a height of approximately 800~1200mm, constructed with durable steel mesh for robust performance. Model C is a fully enclosed cabin with steel mesh, featuring holes less than 30x30mm in diameter to comply with EU safety standards, ensuring operator safety and protection. Lastly, Model D is a luxurious stainless steel or painted steel board cabin adorned with LED lights and a light curtain, not only enhancing safety but also providing rain and dust resistance for optimal comfort and reliability in all conditions.

Typically, scissor lift landing doors can be designed in four distinct models:

A. The manual swing door, also known as the manual opening mechanical door, is fixed with hinges and top/bottom door axles, providing a robust and traditional solution.

B. Automatic shutter doors are highly popular in industrial elevator projects, offering smart and convenient operation for workers during daily shifts.

C. Fire doors are chosen by some clients to separate the hoistway's interior from the exterior space. The application of fire doors can fulfill specific clients' fire-proof requirements, ensuring enhanced safety and compliance with regulations.

Safety system

Emergency stop system

We designed an emergency button for the hydraulic cargo lift, ensuring that in the event of any unexpected issues, users can swiftly press it to halt the lift's operation abruptly, safeguarding the lift's structure, cargo, and operator's safety.

Additionally, we incorporated platform safety sensors using infrared light curtains. If any item loaded on the platform falls out of the platform door, the lift will immediately stop, ensuring the safety of both the lift and personnel.

The lift doors can be secured using door safety sensor limit switches, door-touching locks, or electromagnetic locks, meaning the lift can only operate when all doors are securely closed. During normal operation, if any door is opened, the lift will stop immediately, guaranteeing the safety of both the hydraulic cargo lift and its users.

Hydraulic explosion-proof valve system

Each cylinder unit of our lifts is equipped with an explosion-proof valve, incorporating an additional safety feature to bolster the reliability of the hydraulic system. During the operational process, if there is any unexpected malfunction, such as a ruptured oil hose, a disrupted hydraulic route, or an abrupt oil leakage, the lift will promptly halt its descent. This sophisticated design ensures the comprehensive safety of both the lift and the valuable cargo it carries, providing peace of mind and assurance of protection.

Oil pressure overflow valve

Installed in the valve block of the pump station, the pressure overflow valve functions as a safety mechanism. When the lift is overloaded and the pump and mechanical device fail to operate smoothly during loading or unloading, the oil pressure increases excessively. This triggers the pump mechanical device to overflow, automatically diverting hydraulic oil from the pump valve to the oil tank. This protection feature of the pump station ensures safety in the event of oil pressure overload.

Overload system

Tebo hydraulic lifts feature a crucial overloaded protecting system. This safeguard is designed to detect when the goods loaded surpass the standard capacity. As soon as this occurs, the lift promptly stops and emits a loud alarm. Resuming operation is only possible when the load is within the limit, protecting the equipment and preventing potential hazards.
